Coming in as the underdog to Monday’s game, the Lady Vikings claimed an unexpected victory over the Greeneville Devils.
“It felt really good. We came in with a lot of energy. We lost to them last year so it felt really good to beat them,” said sophomore point guard Addie Wilhoit.
After a very close competition, the game ended with a score of 55-48.
“I really liked our hustle that we had,” said senior guard Keeyanah Foote. “We had great defense and great energy. I just loved it.”
Because of their win in the regional semi-finals, the Lady Vikings now prepare to take on David Crockett tonight in Viking Hall at 7pm.
“We’re gonna just do what we normally do, which is practice and go over our scouting report,” said assistant coach Charlie Tiller.
The team has already faced Crockett three times this season, and has a record of 0-3 against them.
However, the team plans to come in and take home a victory. Regardless of the result of this game, both teams will play in a game this coming Saturday for a chance to play at the state tournament.
“Since we’re playing Crockett, we already know our mindset going into this, what we need to do, and what we need to accomplish,” said Foote. “They are not gonna beat us four times in a row. So we are gonna make them go home.”
