As Micah Norton is mere weeks away from ending his THS journey, his post-graduation ambitions have, in many ways, been shaped by his high school ambitions from their infancy.
Norton was a member of the varsity football team’s starting lineup in 2020, a rarity for a freshman. Despite his early accomplishments, he observed the then-upperclassmen who were in higher positions than him, developing an unrelenting desire to improve and surpass those ahead of him.

“It just made me always think that there [are] always people in front of me that [are] better, and so [that] always just pushed me to be better than everyone else,” said Norton.

Norton’s football career concluded in November 2024 with a regional “Defensive Player of the Year” award. Although he still maintains a strong love and passion for the game, Norton plans to leave his playing career behind and instead pursue a career as a realtor.

“It’s just something I think I could thrive in, and it’s also something I think I would really enjoy and want to do for the rest of my life,” said Norton.

Along with his entrancement with the profession, Norton also believes that his personal traits will be an asset in the field. With the large doses of personal interaction required to be an effective realtor, he believes that his self-described social versatility will lead him towards success.

“I think [potential buyers] [will] just come to me and it [will] be easy for them to talk to me and ask me questions and things like that; I think they [will] just find me [as] someone whose personality is just really there,” said Norton. “I think they [will] really enjoy that, and I think that [is] why I [will] sell them a lot.”

Norton’s immediate post-graduation plans include earning his real estate license by the end of the calendar year and a four-year bachelor’s degree in business/finance, starting at Northeast State. In summation of his professional goals, Norton envisions himself forging a prosperous path in real estate, one sale at a time.

“I think [that] if you do it right and [if] you’re with the right people, you can make a very good living and opportunity for yourself,” said Norton.
