With an unmatched dedication and relentless drive, Aryana Patterson is set to make waves in the world of Division 1 soccer, turning dreams into reality one goal at a time. This fall, Patterson will begin her journey by joining the East Tennessee State University soccer team—a testament to her hard work and passion for the sport.
Patterson’s soccer career began at the tender age of five. She quickly advanced to playing on club teams and excelled throughout high school, due to her consistent hard work and determination.
“I went through a lot of teams and coaches, but they all helped me get to where I am now,” said Patterson.
Entering her first college season, Patterson currently holds the record for most goals scored in a single season for Tennessee High with 58 goals, as well as the record for single-season points with 132, both achieved in 2024.
While Patterson didn’t face many setbacks throughout her career, she did have to battle a few minor injuries, along with an ACL tear during her freshman year.
“I just took my recovery very seriously, and I came back stronger after each one,” said Patterson.
With her soccer season starting this August, Patterson will begin training on campus in mid-July, allowing her to get a headstart on her future success.
“We’ll start out doing two-a-day practices along with lifting a few times a week,” said Patterson. “Once the season starts, we’ll be having at least two games a week.”
Throughout Patterson’s soccer career, she has had a strong support system in her family. She serves as a big role model for her younger brother, Robby, and credits much of her success to her father, Rob.
“[My dad] didn’t know much about soccer at first, but he did know how to train for a sport and help me stay committed,” said Patterson.
Alongside her soccer career, Patterson plans to major in health science with hopes of entering the College of Pharmacy post undergrad.
“It’s going to be a lot,” said Patterson. “But we have great academic advisors that get all our schedules set and balanced.”
Patterson’s journey is an example of dedication, resilience, and the power of a strong support system. As she steps into her next chapter at ETSU, there’s no doubt she’ll continue to inspire and achieve greatness both on and off the field.
“I wouldn’t have gotten this far without all the support,” said Patterson. “I’m just really grateful.”
