After a successful season, the Lady Viking soccer team is headed to state tomorrow to play against the Brighton Cardinals.
The team made it to state last year, but didn’t advance due to their 1-0 loss against South Gibson. This year, they’re hoping their accomplishments so far will propel them to win the state title.
“We’re going to state because we’ve all worked really hard,” said center back Chase Wolfenbarger. “We’ve won a lot of games, and we’re going to win [this one] because we still have that same working hard attitude.”
After only losing two games this season, and their opponent, the Cardinals, having lost three, the team feels they have a good chance at winning. No matter the outcome, the Vikings feel it will be a good game that will bring them together.
“Our goals are to connect as a team,” said forward Aryana Patterson. “[We’re] going to beat the cardinals; I’m looking forward to that post-dub celebration.”
