Putting service above self may sound challenging, but Interact club members strive to serve their community while molding compassionate leaders.
Interact is sponsored by Bristol TN/VA Rotary, a group of local business and community leaders, whose motto is “service above self.”
The club aims “to give back to the community, and raise international awareness to different cultures that we have around Bristol,” said sponsor Mariel Story. “I’m aspiring to make students aware and inclusive of others.”
Meeting every other Tuesday in Story’s room, Interact plans to have leadership opportunities, host an international day, collect gifts for Operation Christmas Child, and even arrange an exchange program.
“Mrs. Story makes everyone feel welcome, and [the club] is a safe space for growing,” said Bethany Vogt, sophomore. “This club makes me feel that I can actually impact the lives of others for better—that change is possible through understanding.”
