As the flood waters rush into North Carolina, Jingle the dog travels away from her birthplace to South Carolina, escaping destruction while being brought to her new home: Tennessee.
Despite the initial problems faced in picking up Jingle, she is “a puppy in all regards.” At only 13 weeks old, Jingle is full of joy.
Since picking up and housing Jingle, Community Outreach Coordinator Kay Ward has found Jingle to “turn into a puppy at home, but become well behaved when at the office. [Jingle] has a sense for knowing when to behave.”
Jingle has already shown herself to be extremely smart and friendly while visiting the office with Ward.
Jingle is not only a joyous dog but also a hypoallergenic type F1B Goldendoodle that’s perfect for being a therapy dog at the Viking Academy, which is going to be her new “job.”
She will begin her Canine Good Citizen certification training on Halloween day so that by January, she will be ready to start her career of curating smiles and “always being a friend.”
Her training will consist of learning basic commands, how to act around crowds, and how to be a kind and understanding dog overall.
She will be around many students and faculty members alike, so she must learn to be comfortable around large crowds. This part of her training would be difficult for most dogs.
Before Jingle was chosen to be Viking Academy’s therapy dog, another dog was set to have her job. But Jingle was ultimately chosen by Ward because of her calm demeanor and kind spirit.
Already in a short time, Ward and many others have seen how seriously Jingle is taking her role. Ward said she believes that “Jingle is extremely proud to be a Viking.”

So great to read about Jingle! Writer Lottie Boyles is especially articulate!
