On November 25th, the Theater Arts class hosted a showcase that was led completely by the students and was driven by their individual passions. The showcase produced ten skits, some originals by students, and others from well known playwrights.
“I just want the kids to have fun, that was the main thing I was looking for, is that they get to perform what they want and have fun doing it,” said theater teacher Amber Davis.
Ranging from duets, solos, and monologues, each student has the opportunity to show what they can bring to the table as an artist.
“It was exhilarating to know that like, ‘Oh my gosh,’ something I made is seen by other people and it’s appreciated,” said Junior Shyanna Schlottmann, writer and actor of the original piece That’s Rough, Ody: the tale of the greek mortal hero, Odysseus.
The freedom of expression was the purpose of this performance and every piece empowered the creators
“It was really great to get to do something on my own,” said Shyla Dunn.
Working together, the relationship between the group became stronger.
“It was nice to know that I could have faith in all the people,” said Schlottmann.
