National Honor Society is a year-round national program offering leadership opportunities and community outreach projects for upperclassmen.
“Those selected have to accentuate leadership qualities,” said co-sponsor Jenna Dunkerly. “[Students] enter a role where they do more for the school.”
Juniors and seniors possessing a 93+ cumulative average are invited to apply. But NHS provides students with more than just a title, it gives them an opportunity to learn.
“Things you master just to get into NHS are needed for college,” senior Keeley Greene said. “It puts you around people that have similar goals and aspirations, weeding out those who lack work ethic.”
NHS plans to take on projects with student council, including the homecoming bonfire. Meetings are planned to be held in the auditorium or library monthly.
“It’s a great opportunity, especially to gather with peers willing to go above and beyond,” co-sponsor Lucas Gentry said.
