Walking into school in August of 2025, students were surprised to find that YouTube, their beloved video-streaming service, was blocked. Luckily, quicker than YouTube got taken, students found a solution: the Desmos calculator.
There came to be more options of course: Google slides, Google docs, and even links on the Bristol Tennessee City School’s webpage became temporary YouTube- watching tools. However, Desmos was the most reliable.
Upon hearing about increased student usage of the YouTube extension, Desmos began to implement other software. Social media such as TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat appeared, followed by mobile shopping tools like Target and Amazon. Desmos-users were surprised to find even DoorDash and Starbucks available for their use.
These new additions proved to be beneficial to students who took the ACT this spring. “Desmos is a very helpful tool,” ACT enthusiast Tatyana Kearney said. “ While taking the test, many students watch YouTube through Desmos to relearn important skills from previous classes.”
Some students even gain “surprising” benefits from Desmos expansion.
“I totally didn’t mean for this to happen, but while taking the ACT I found myself ordering a burger on DoorDash,” junior Lily Chen said. “It was an accident, though I did end up eating the burger after the test to refuel.”
Not only has Desmos raised Tennessee High School’s ACT scores, but it’s also provided relaxation and convenience to teachers, In particular, the mathematics teacher with the most luscious hair: Jace Slone.
“One day when demonstrating how to use Desmos to my fourth period, I suddenly remembered I needed to order my organic hair products. Luckily, Desmos allowed me to order them through Amazon in just minutes.” Jace Slone said.
Now that his hair is moisturized, he can teach his class more efficiently and fashionably.
In addition to shopping tools, Desmos provides students with sustenance after dealing with daily rants about Bojangles biscuits from Coach Bradley Morelock.
“Sometimes when I get tired in class, I will order a Venti Mocha Frappuccino with 12 shots of espresso, 7 pumps of brown sugar, vanilla sweet cream cold foam, cocoa sprinkle, and caramel drizzle from Starbucks through Desmos,” Freshman Kaylee Tiller said. “This has saved me from taking naps many times.”
Desmos is predicted to continue to expand, with even game platforms like Roblox and Fortnite set to be available soon.
So next time you’re bored in class, hungry, want a new top, or need help answering a question in algebra, open your graphing calculator and all problems will be solved.
