After a one year intermission, the Mighty Viking Players’ Haunted Halls tours resumed this past Friday with a variety of eerie scenes, jumpscaring actors, and spooky school folklore.
“We try and do it every other year, but it’s a pretty big event, so once a year is kind of tough,” said Theater Arts teacher Amber Davis. “We do it to raise money for the theater department and to pay the royalties for Mamma Mia, which we’re producing this spring.”
The tours not only provide the theater department with funding for their shows, they also provide other clubs–such as Intereract, the Yarn Club, and Art Club–with an opportunity to recruit new members.
“All of our props are meant to be crocheted organs or blood,” said senior Gwen Puckett. “[The inspiration came from] the fact that this is actually to raise people’s interest in the club.”
With a combination of school stories and fictionalized characters, the tours allow students in theater arts to practice acting—or screaming.
“I love screaming at little kids,” said senior scare actor Alexa Henard.
