For the 29th year in a row, Bristol Motor Speedway, in partnership with Food City, is hosting Speedway in Lights. Speedway in Lights is a fun, family friendly event that treks 4 miles, and contains more than 3 million lights.
The Speedway is open from 6-10 pm every day Nov. 14th through Jan. 3rd. However, the Speedway requires that you arrive no later than 9:45pm on the night you purchase the tickets.
Tickets are available per car, not per passenger, and the standard ticket costs $40.65 from Dec. 19 through the 21st, $34.88 from Dec. 22nd to the 28th, and from Dec. 29th through Jan. 3rd, the tickets cost $29.12.
Fast Lane tickets are also available to skip the line which varies from day to day. Weekdays the wait is typically 30-45 minutes, while on weekends the wait can potentially be 2-3 hours. Because of the limited number of cars that can purchase the Fast Lane tickets a night, (as of December 9th 2025), Fast Lane tickets are $75.22 and only available for December 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 26th, and the 27th.
Speedway in Lights is made up of three sections which are the lights, Christmas village, and a lap around “the world’s most famous half mile”. The lights are the highlight of the event, and include many unique and colorful creations. Christmas village is an optional stop that includes craft, activities, and food. “The world’s most famous half mile” is a concrete high banked oval known for its thrilling speed during NASCAR races.
The lights are very immersive and are very unique to this experience, whereas the lap around “the world’s most famous half mile” is incredibly unique, offering a rare opportunity to drive in a speedway.
This year, the speedway has a theme of “Santa’s Beach Party,” with Santa and reindeer on the beach. This display is new this year, and from personal experience I can tell you, younger kids think it’s entertaining.
This year, the Speedway brought back the “Mega Slide.” which is a red, white, and blue slide that allows family members to enjoy racing downhill in tubes.
The Christmas Village offers shaved ice, which is always a fun treat for the family. Along with other classic treats, Santa Claus is at the Christmas Village and he is available to take photos with.
These three activities are what makes Bristol’s Speedway in Lights a family friendly, fun, unique experience that is worth your time.
